In biofuels: Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) or mono-alkyl esters derived from vegetable oils or animal fats and other biomass-derived oils that shall be technically proven and approved by the DOE for use in diesel engines with quality specifications in accordance with the Philippine National Standards (PNS) [Section 3(d), Biofuels Act of 2006; Section 3.1(e), DOE Department Circular No. DC2007-05-0006, Rules and Regulations Implementing Republic Act No. 9367; See Section 4(e), DA, DAR, DOE, DENR, DOF, DOLE, DOST, DTI, DOTC, NBB, NCIP, PCA, SRA JAO No. 2008-1, s. 2008, Guidelines Governing the Biofuel Feedstocks Production, and Biofuels and Biofuel Blends Production, Distribution and Sale under Republic Act No. 9367; Section 3(c), Rule II, DOE Department Circular No. DC2021-06-0014, Revised Circular on Accreditation and Submission of Notices and Reports by Refiners, Importers and Own Users of Gasoline and Diesel Pursuant to the Biofuels Act]

In biofuels: Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) or mono-alkyl esters derived from vegetable oils or animal fats and other biomass-derived oils that shall be technically proven and approved by the DOE for use in diesel engines with quality specifications in accordance with the Philippine National Standard (PNS) consistent with Section 26 of RA 8479 or the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999 [Section 3(a), DOE Department Circular No. DC2016-07-0012, Implementing Rules and Regulations for Republic Act No. (RA) 10745 or the Amended Biofuels Act of 2006]

Note: The Amended Biofuels Act of 2006 IRR adds a reference to Section 26 of the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999. It also refers to “Standard”, rather than Standards.

The definitions under DA, DAR, DOE, DENR, DOF, DOLE, DOST, DTI, DOTC, NBB, NCIP, PCA, SRA JAO No. 2008-1, s. 2008 and DOE Department Circular No. DC2021-06-0014 have similar minor changes in writing style. The definitions state: “fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) or mono-alkyl esters derived from vegetable oils or animal fats and other biomass-derived oils that shall be technically proven and approved by the DOE for use in diesel-fed engines, with quality specifications in accordance with the PNS”.
