In renewable energy: any power or energy generation facility which makes use of two or more types of technologies utilizing both conventional and/or renewable fuel sources, such as, but not limited to, integrated solar/wind systems, biomass/fossil fuel systems, hydro/fossil fuel systems, integrated solar/biomass systems, integrated wind/fossil fuel systems, with a minimum of ten (10) megawatts or ten percent (10%) of the annual energy output provided by the RE component [Section 4(w), RE Act of 2008; Section 3(y), Rules and Regulations Implementing Republic Act No. 9513]
In energy resources, hydrogen: any power or energy generation facility which makes use of Hydrogen Energy together with other types of energy system (e.g., utilizing both conventional fossil fuels or RE and Hydrogen Energy technologies) with a minimum of ten (10) megawatts or ten percent (10%) of the annual energy output provided by the RE component and, Provided Further That, Hydrogen is sourced from RE in accordance with the provisions of the RE Act of 2008 [Section 4(l), DOE Department Circular No. DC2024-01-0001, Providing a National Policy and General Framework, Roadmap, and Guidelines for the Hydrogen in the Energy Sector]
Note: Under the RE Act of 2008 IRR, “ten (10) megawatts” is written as “ten megawatts (10 MW)”. Under DOE Department Circular No. DC2024-01-0001, the term is written as “Hybrid System” in the singular form.
